I want a fun headpiece for the wedding. What are your experiences with the ribbon headpieces or the metal headband? Do the ribbon ones stay in well?

I had a metal headband, but it was still held in place with a couple of bobby pins. I'd say the same is probably true for a ribbon one as well.

I wore a wrap around metal headband (see pic below).  Each section had a hinge so it easily fit around my head and it had a clasp similar to a bracelet on the end.  When I had my hair trial I made sure that the headband was incorporated so that it wouldn't slide off or hit me behind the ears (it would hurt if it did).

I absolutely loved my headband and I really think it made the whole look...it added just the right amount of sparkle since I don't wear earrings and I didn't want to wear a necklace.  Now I am just trying to figure out where I can wear it to again!

personally in my hair ribbon headbands only stay when my hair is down. if your hair is up, it might slide off.

If you are having a hairdresser she or he will know how to get it into place. you can also put the headband around your head horizonatlly instead of vertically. like this photo http://www.etsy.com/listing/71791692/bridal-headband-bridal-halo-wedding

you can also get a moveable headband. i guess they are called flexible headbands...i love them because usually they just go around your hair and not around your whole head.
