Veil

How  in the heck do you pick  a freaking veil to go with your dress. I know what I like but I don't know if it goes with my dress. How did  you pick your veil?

Re: Veil

  • I had a hell of a time choosing a veil. I brought my sister with me and am so thankful I did.

If you post a pic of your dress we might be able to help you out a bit.
  •   My consultant brought over three when I tried on my dress and I fell in love with one of those.

  • yeah... i have been worrying aout this too - i have not yet picked my dress yet, but i know that will be the next question!  I am hoping someone who comes with me will have a strong opinion!
  • I looked at the veils at the bridal store, knew what I wanted my "picture from the back" to look like (with my veil going just slightly past the train of the gown), and knew that mom had some lace to incorporate on it, so I tried on a mantilla veil, cathedral length, and knew it was the perfect style.  I ended up ordering a 1-tier, cathedral-length, with scattered pearls and crisp cut edge from www.valuveil.com for about $20, and mom is going to add the lace to the veil this week!  I'm so excited!  She wants to add some beading to it where she puts the lace so we have to finally decide on the beads we want to add and buy them tonight.

Some people aren't fans of the long veil.  I would suggest if you can, try on a few different lengths with your dress to see what fits your style.  Then, figure out from there the degree of decoration you want on the veil (plain, scattered pearls, scattered rhinestones, satin ribbon edge, lace trim, a crown attached, etc).  How do you picture yourself in that dress?  Do you see nothing except a hair fascinator?  do you see a veil hitting the floor?  Do you see a veil just below your shoulders?  Or do you want it long to touch your fingertips but not all the way to the floor?

Check out some dress pictures online too, a lot of the bridal gown designers have pictures with an without veils to give you some ideas on what to put with the dress.

    Hope this helps!  Good luck!!

  • My consultant put a veil on me when I had my dress on in the store. I told her I liked fingertip length, she grabbed this one, and I loved it! I felt like it completed the picture!

omg....i hope it will be that easy for me!  :)
  • I took my dress (+shoes, tiara, jewelry) with me to go veil shopping. (it was my last purchase for my bridal look) I wasnted to make sure I got a length that looked great with my dress.  This is what I chose...

I went with the waist length veil, so that you chould see the corset detailing through the veil in the back of the dress.  I was afraid that an elbow length would cut me in half in the back.

  • I hope so too! My bridal consultant was freakin awesome though, she actually was the one who pulled my dress without me asking cause I tried on a couple that I thought I would like and I hated them so she pulled my dress, and of course I fell in love.

  • I wish I had a picture of my dress :[

  • I bought my veil from the same vendor as my dress.  I knew I wanted a blusher double veil in a very simple style with finished edges.  I got exactly what I envisioned.

The day of the wedding.  I hated that damn thing as it kept getting in my way  and I could not get it off my head fast enought.

Try on a bunch of veils while dress shopping and wear one for 45 minutes to an hour while dress shopping to see if your really want one.

    If no, Skip it.
  • Mine is also a mermaid cut with organza lace on the bodice and skirt. I found that the fingertip length veil looked very nice with that style. Good luck!

  • Also don't count out a birdcage veil. I needed a veil but didn't want anything long and more formal. I found a gorgeous softer birdcage (not the normal large mesh) and it's perfect to just add a little touch.
