"Plus-size" Stainless Steel Wedding band with stones?

Hello.  New here.  Hoping you all might be able to help me with a ring question.

I have severe allergies to a lot of metals, and wear a size 12 ring.  So I'm really limited on options.

My fiancee originally bought be a very pretty stainless steel tension set engagement ring.  The stones (cubic zirconia) fell out within two days, the band got scratched really badly, and the company went out of business.  So it's a complete loss, but a not very expensive one.

Now we're looking at wedding rings, and I am having no luck.  I can't wear any kind of silver, gold, nickel, copper, or bronze, and I can't really afford platinum or tungsten.  I'm looking for a solitary cubic zirconia (I don't wear diamonds) with a stainless steel (or titanium / tungsten) band, in a size 12.  Everything I find is too small, plain with no stones, or not stainless steel.  Or really, really expensive.

Any one out there have any ideas?

  • I suggest that you find a jewelry designer in your area whose designs you like and work with them create a ring that you love. I did this and it was not really any more expensive than buying from a chain store.

    Good luck!

  • What about THIS (<--- clicky)  It's tungsten with a small CZ in it.

Or either of THESE  (SS CZ eternity)

Can you wear sterling silver?  Because there are a lot of options HERE

  • Have you tried looking at mens' styles?  I know it sounds strange but since your fingers are on the larger size it may be worth a look.  Many of them are actually unisex in design (mens are just a bit thicker) and more men's rings come in stainless and tungsten at afforadable prices.
  •  I would go to a bunch of jewelers and see what they can do - tungsten you mentioned as being expensive. I live in CT, where everything is expensive, and tungsten is probably the least expensive option out there. The only downside is you can never get it sized. Also why CZ, I personally am not a fan of diamonds so while my e-ring and wedding band have diamonds in them, the center stone of my e-ring is only a semi-precious stone (granted it was the stone I wanted, but it made for much less expensive ring that look ridiculously beautiful, I get compliments all the time).

    Good luck!
  • My friend has size 12 ring finger too and she was able to get a custom designed band from a seller on etsy - might be worth searching the site and seeing if there is anything you like and then contacting the seller to see if they can make it in the size/material you need.

  • I found this one on Amazon.

It was the only one in stock - in a size 12.  There were several others that were very nice looking and somewhat different in style, but they were out of stock.  I would also second the suggestion for looking on etsy.
  • Thank you for the suggestions ladies.  I actually contacted a couple places about getting one custom made and will be going to a local jewelers this weekend to see about the costs / possibility.

I don't tend to like the men's rings, as I think they're not as "pretty".  While I tend to go unisex on a lot of things, I really want something a little more...  Blingy, I guess?  Just daintier looking and more feminine.

I actually had never seen a ss ring that wasn't cz until my extensive searching of the last couple days.  I'm now looking in to getting a different kind of stone on the ring.

    Thanks again.
  • Check into Cobalt rings!  I just read yesterday that they are using cobalt more and more in medical applications because people aren't allergic to it.  And it's fairly cheap - I'm looking at a ring for my FI on Amazon for only $75.

    From their site:

    Hypoallergenic
Cobalt Chrome wedding bands don’t contain harmful alloys such as nickel that cause allergic reactions.

    Bio-Compatible
Because it’s purely natural and can be tolerated by the human body, Cobalt Chrome has been highly accepted and used within medical practices for years.
