Red Carpet, Blue Dresses?!?!?!

Hi Ladies!
I need some help!  I may just be panicking about this, but anyway.
So I originally wasn't going to get married in a church, but I found one that I really loved, and DO want to get married in.  My only problem is that the church (in a classic New England style) has a bright red carpet running all the way down the aisle, and the whole alter/stage is carpeted in the same color.
My girls are going to be in royal blue.  David's Bridal calls it Horizon.  I"m worried that it'll clash horribly and make the pictures look bad.  I definitely don't want to change the color of the dresses (since we've already ordered them).
Is this going to look terrible?  I can't find any pictures of a red-carpeted church with blue dresses.  Am I just over-reacting?
Help please!!!

  • I think you'll be fine.  And if you find you don't like the color in the photos, your photog should be able to change the color of the carpeting.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • What about using an aisle runner then?  You can get them for pretty cheap, and even customize them with your names and date.  See here: http://roadtotheaisle.blogspot.com/2007/07/diy-aisle-runner.html

  • I thought about the aisle runner, but that would still leave the whole alter/stage in red.  I'm probably way over-thinking this.
  • Overthinking, I think. In my head I'm thinking about the "red carpet" at celeb events like the Oscars & I never really think of anyone's dress as clashing w/ the carpet. It'll be ok!

  • Just my opinion, but I think bold shades of red and blue compliment each other quite well! I wouldn't be worried about it. :)
  • I have the same issue and my photographer knows to tone down carpet in any major/retouched images we will want.
  • Overthinking, majorly.  I didn't get married in a church, but as far as pictures went, I have very few far away shots that include the entire wedding party and the surroundings (maybe 6 or 7).  A lot of the shots were closeups of me and H or the wedding party.  So as far as the carpet goes...no one will notice and it will most likely not end up in that many pictures.
