TOMs shoes

Hey ladies! So bought a gorgeous pair of dark red pumps for my wedding a few weeks ago, and of course, in store, they were fine, a little large, but that was okay. I wore them to the initiation of my community service frat (APO!!!) and they were the most painful things in the world after about fifteen minutes. My feet become swollen and bright red, despite them being large apon putting them on. So I decided I would wear them for the glamorous pictures and the ceremony. However, tonight, I purchased a pair of red TOMs  and am in love. Has anyone here done that? I'll definately wear them for the reception, and am consider the ceremony. They're sooooo comfy!

Re: TOMs shoes

  • I know some girls who are wearing converses, boots, sandals, toms... anything you can think of. It's not my style, but you'll be the one spending the whole day in those shoes. If that's what you're most comfortable in, go with it. Esp if your dress is floor length... few will see and it won't be a big deal anyway. However, I agree you should take pics with your cute fancy shoes. Unless, your red toms will go with the style of your wedding... that's a contributing factor as well IMO.

If I can find a pair of the bridal white glitters in my size (they're sold out on the website), I'm planning on wearing them for everything! It's not like people will really be able to see your shoes anyways - I think they're super cute, and they're WAY more comfortable than heels! Plus, FI is only a couple inches taller than me, so I was planning on wearing flats anyways. That being said, do what will make you happy!

I wore boots all day. Big, honking combat boots. I didn't have to worry about twisting my ankle, so it was great!

  • Just make sure your dress is altered in a way so that when you switch from heels to flats, you aren't tripping over your dress at the reception.
  • Yeah, I don't see a problem with you wearing them - I mean, I wore tennis shoes to my wedding - but I personally wouldn't spend a dime on Toms because I think they're ugly.  However, your wedding, your shoes, so you do what you want!

[QUOTE]I'm a big fan of comfy shoes, but TOMs are just so unattractive that there's no way I'd wear them.  Not even to the grocery store.

This. I've read that they fall apart after a couple months of wear, which sucks considering they are like 50 bucks.
  • It is your wedding and you should wear whatever you want!

  • I wore my TOMS backpacking around Europe last summer.  I was walking miles every day, and they held up just fine.

Sure, they aren't the most attractive things (I actually like them), but that's not the point!  It's more about the philanthropy.  I've seen pictures, and it can be really cute.  Honestly, I like this idea better than flip-flops.

<div>Ditto. I saw some flip flops, but I've simply got some strange looking feet and am really self conscious about people seeing them. I know, its silly, really. But that's why I don't like flip flops. Plus, I just have a hunch that by the end of the night, flip flops would just disappear. haha!</div>

  • Cute! I vote yes!

    I like the practicality.
