I found my dress! I went to David's Bridal with my mom to start getting ideas for dresses. I didn't even have an appointment, but they had a spot open, so I decided to go ahead and try some on. I already knew going into it that I wanted a 1950's vintage style dress with lace, and did not want it to be long with any kind of train. Well, the second dress I tried on was perfect! I kept trying on other dresses, but I just kept comparing every dress back to the one I loved. I was a little nervous going ahead and buying the dress since it was the very first place I looked, but I just thought I would keep comparing every dress to this one and would end up going back for it anyway.
Originally we were planning on getting married in November of this year, but have since decided to push it back to March 2014 to give us more time to save money. So, now I have my dress a whole year before my wedding! Will it be okay in the garment bag for a year? How should I store it?
I'm going to wait until closer to the wedding to have it altered, but I do have a question. I will have to have the shoulders taken up and some other alterations to make it fit my short torso, but should I have it hemmed? The dress is meant to be tea-length, but comes down to just above my feet. (I'm only 4'11"). I actually like the length that it is on me though. My question though, is does it look like it's too long or too short? I mean, does it look like it is supposed to be tea-length and is too long, or does it look too short because it doesn't brush the ground? I really want to leave it the length it is, but don't want it to look weird.
