Help! Sophia Tolli - Sizing

I'm ordering a Sophia Tolli dress.

The sample I tried on was big in the hips, but it fit great everywhere else as it’s a corset back so they can make it as tight or lose as needed

The sample was a size 10.

The store is recommending I order an 8, but look at the size chart:

size 8: 36, 28, 38

My exact measurements: 36.5, 28.5, 39.5

size 10: 37.5, 29.5, and 40

With a corset, they said the measurements don’t have to be exact.

Obviously getting a 10 is ‘safe’, but it will be very expensive to alter. I do have that extra 5 lbs of winter weight on right now.

Should I order a 10 to be safe or just go off what the bridal salon is recommending?

Re: Help! Sophia Tolli - Sizing

  • I would go with what the bridal salon is suggesting. We just did bridesmaid dresses this wekend and the store recommended what was about a size smaller then I thought it would be for 2 of my BMs that got dresses with corset backs.

If it makes you that uncomfortable I'd get the 10. Taking is a dress 1 size isn't a huge undertaking as compared to taking it in 2-3 sizes.

  • I would order what the bridal store is recommending.  My dress is a Sophia Tolli.  I ordered it in an 8 which is my street size as well and it fits perfectly.

Also the only place you are more than half an inch different from the size chart is the hips and you said the 10 was big in that area.

  • I would order the size 8. I'm a size 14 and I ordered a 14 even though according to my measurements with my hips I should have ordered an 18. I'm almost wishing I had ordered a 12 though because I'm losing weight and the 14 fits me almost perfectly right now.
