Check! & Ceremony Planning Question

So Saturday night FI, my parents and I went and did our "tasting." Really we just ate in the country club's dining room. We each had a different meal (things we could choose for the wedding day). We also got some apps and dessert (that aren't available for the wedding) it was all so good! So that got me really excited :)

I think we are set on a duo plate of filet mignon and chicken piccata for our entree. The jury is still out on appetizers.

We also met with the priest and finished going over our FOCCUS stuff. FINALLY! Only took 1 year :P And he gave us the booklet to start planning the ceremony.

So, for those of you married ladies and those with their ceremony stuff planned already, what are you using for readings and songs? (bible readings and instrumental songs as we are getting married in a church)

We walked in to Canon in D and out to Ode to Joy.

I forget the 1st reading, but for the second we did the "Love is patient, Love is kind"

Here is a helpful website I got from one of the girls on the Catholic Wedding Board.
http://catholicweddinghelp.com/topics/readings-rite.htm You can find everything including readings on there.  The link is specifically for readings.  I found it to be helpful.

    Thanks girls :)

    And thanks for the link!

My mom came to me with a pile of stuff and I'm like, what's this and she said I knew this stuff would come in handy someday. My mom is the person that saves invites/programs/STDs/Thank you cards from everyone's weddings. You wouldn't believe some of these invites! SO ugly! hahaha

I am going through all the programs :) Its interesting that some in the same year/years have the same readings!

We just finished planning our ceremony on Sunday.
Did you get the Together for Life book?

    Old Testament: Tobit 8:4b-8
    Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 103:1-2, 8 and 13, 17-18a
    New Testament: Romans 12:1-2, 9-18
    Gospel: John 15:9-12

For music I will be walking in to "Canon in D" and we'll be leaving to "Ode to Joy" (hopefully!)

Yup we got the book. FI started reading through it on the way home and just kept saying really, really, REALLY? haha I guess he didn't like it that much.

Yeah, I felt like a lot of the readings had a "the woman should be subservient to her husband as she is to God" tone. I get the latter philosophy/idea, but FI and I are equals in our relationship. Times change.

FI wanted to have the water into wine reading as our gospel, but his mother shut him down on that one, haha. I love that I didn't have to battle that one!

I actually like the water into wine reading haha I had always thought it was "cool" when I was a kid. However, I don't think its that great for a wedding ceremony. And I agree with you about the subservient woman, I wonder if anyone actually chooses those?

Arez - my friend picked the "women are subservient to men" ones.  I wasn't surprised because I know she feels that way (not that I agree!), but FI came up to me after the ceremony with his program and was like, "Can you believe this?!?!"  Fi and I feel the same way about our relationship as Chica - we're equals.  Personal preference, I suppose.
