South African Engagement Party

My Fiance is from South Africa, and we met during College swimming. My family is going to South Africa in September of this year (our wedding is March of 2011) for an engagement party/vacation for over two weeks. I have been before, but my immediate family has not. They will be throwing two parties one in my Fiances hometown with his friends, and one on his uncles wine farm. What would be the apporiate attire to wear for the parties? I was thinking just a white sundress since September is South Africas Spring. Help!

You can wear whatever you want. There aren't any rules or special colors.

Just think about how formal the party will be. Jeans would look out of place at a formal banquet, just as a fancy cocktail gown might seem silly for a casual party at someone's home or a pub.
