Flower Allergies

I am having an indoor wedding in 9/12. I have some pretty serious pollen allergies so, to minimize the odds of me having a runny nose on my wedding day, no real flowers allowed! This creates a dilemma for my bouquet though ... I don't want cheesy silk flowers that look fake. One of my former coworkers makes pinwheels that are super cute (customized paper to match my colors). but I don't know if that would look odd in an indoor ceremony. What have other people done in this situation?

Have you thought about doing a large, single flower? Like your BMs and you could carry a single callalily? I have allergies too and keeping the flowers simple and to a minimum could possibly work for ya. Good luck!

I ordered a bouquet for myself, and then 150 single flowers to make 5 BM bouquets, FG bouquets, GM/family bouts and corsages, and use the rest in centrepieces.  It cost $250 total.

I got a box of 160 non-painted for $25. 

This was definitely the way to go for me.  I didn't want to spend a lot of money on flowers, and I got them all in early so I don't have to worry about live flowers a day or two before the wedding!

If you really want to use pinwheels, I think they are also cute and a good alternative.  Just thought I'd show you my ideas!

tiffbot, I LOVE your flower ideas!  I might get some of those wooden flowers, too, to jazz up the centerpieces!

Afloral and Save on Crafts have some really high quality "real touch" flowers. They've very authentic looking, but pricey.

I have terrible allergies also and am not using any flowers at all.  But mostly because I like alternative options better.  My mom is making my bouquet out of charms, pins, & other jewlery from family and friends.  Here's my inspiration photo below.  My FI is having a charm engraved with our initials and wedding date attached to a ribbon for his boutonniere.

Our colors are yellow and green, so we're using lemons and limes for decor at the party.  We're also thinking of adding pin-wheels as well!

You could also do something totally different from a bouquet, too.  You could carry a Bible or book of poetry, rosary (if Catholic) family heirloom of some sort, candle, a bag/purse/clutch, a handkerchief, large peacocck feather (real or simulated), a foldout fan, or even get into the idea of fall harvest and carry a small pumpkin, ear of multicolor corn (used for decor), or pomander made of pinecones.

And btw, great date - my parents were married on Sept 12. They will celebrate 41 years of marriage this year :-)

I was dead set on roses, and the Kawasaki rose beat me into submission.  I went through several prototype designs before I found one that was relatively simple and still looked good.

I'm doing silk flowers, because I love flowers but they don't love me as much and flowers is the one thing I wanted to be extravagant on. I found a lady in Pennsylvania who does silk flowers for a reasonable price.
