VEIL HELP!!!

Gals, please help!  The dress I bought is outside my normal style because I consider myself more traditional and I bought a rather modern dress.  I went with this dress because it was an absolute knockout on, and the lace ones I tried weren't as flattering.  I want to bring in a traditional lace veil (probably mantilla style) but I'm afraid my dress won't allow it.

The dress is diamond white, sweetheart neckline, mermaid style with three tiers, and each tier has 3 to 4 bold horizontal satin stripes.  Sorry I don't have a picture.  Can I do the lace veil????  Thanks!

Re: VEIL HELP!!!

  • Can you post a pic? I find it hard to visualize...
  • I have looked, and can't find my dress any anywhere.  This Priscilla of Boston is about the same shape, but like I said each tier has about three-four horizontal stipes, whereas this one only has the one stipe at the bottom of each tier.  Make sense?  I'll keep looking for another pic.
  • OK, this is my dress!  This is the view from the back (it is the dress on the right)  You can see it's very sleek and modern, but I just really want a traditional touch.
  • I actually love the idea of the juxtaposition of a modern dress with a traditional lace mantilla.

  • I can not picture a lace veil with that dress, I just do not think it will go.  Sorry.  Maybe try it on and see what it looks like together, but personally I think they are far to different and that is to many textures for it to look cohesive.
  • Hmmmm, ok, so that's one for and one against.  I need a few more to chime in for a better assessment!
  • I don't think a lace veil will go. I don't think it will match, for one, and for two, I think the whole look will be too busy. I would go for a simpler single or two-layer tulle veil with a satin ribbon edging. I think that would match really well and it would still be a fairly traditional looking veil.
  • Thanks for the thoughts.  I Think I found a great compromise that I am happy with.  I got a Reem Acra veil like this that has a cut edge and some beautiful embellishment.  This way, the detail dosen't take over the stripes of the dress, and it will still be traditional.  With a bolero, I will be all set.
