How Purple IS This?

I am going NUTS trying to find out exactly what this color looks like when it is made into an entire dress!

I love this dress from Belsoie and I know I want it in some shade of purple for the bridesmaids, but that's where I hit a wall.

The link is it in the "Victorian" color which, if it looks like it does on my monitor in full-dress form, is perfect for what I want. However, other dresses on the site in the same material come out a more silvery shade (because they're all just airbrushed to be close to the colors, anyway). I have asked stores for swatches, but even received two different kinds (that were two different colors) both labeled "Belsoie Tiffany Chiffon: Victorian." One was perfect, one was way too silvery.

My dress is light gold with Champagne accents, so I think the silvery version will clash, but the swatch of the more purple one held against my dress looked fantastic.

Does anyone know what this color actually looks like? Pictures would be amazing, but just a description might help me figure this all out.

Re: How Purple IS This?

  • It just may be the simple fact of being cut from different batches of fabric. This is the reality which is why shops usually suggest ordering all BM dresses together so they're cut from the same fabric. Maybe you could find out if you can request the most purple fabric for your dresses to be cut from? I don't know..
  • it looks like "victorian" to me....most the dresses on davidsbridal.com in "victorian" are that color
  • I went back to the Bridal Shop today and had them show me both swatches again, this time side-by-side. They are exactly the same, it's just that the purples in the swatch book make it look more silver. Against my dress though, the purple holds up which was exciting to see.

    Thanks for your input!
