How much did you spend on your veil?

So I bought my wedding veil yesterday from the bridal salon... they were having 15% off and being tax free weekend I thought it would be a good idea but wow I was amazed by the cost! The veil I chose is beautiful, it is simple with a natural pearl and beaded border. It really was one of the veils on the lower end that they had but I still paid $240, becuase the veil was $190 plus $50 to add a blusher. I loved the idea of a lace one, but those would have been closer to $400...
My FSIL that went to help me said it was normal and I made the right choice and not to worry but I feel like $240 is a lot to spend on something I'm going to wear for 45 minutes, but I wouldnt know where else to look and I am nervous ordering online without being able to see and feel it.

Mine was $200 from the bridal store where I purchased my dress. I wore it for the ceremony and all the pics, then removed it right before the reception.

ETA: I forgot to mention that price included the actual fingertip veil, as well as the rhinestone headband I wore with it.

I bought 2: one was cathedral length for the church ceremony for $280 and the other was shorter for the reception and it cost $180. I don't regret spending the money on them--they looked beautiful.

I was slightly crazy about veils and spent almost $400 on a cathedral lenth veil with a long blusher. First I fell in love with one that was almost $1,000, so $400 seemed like a good deal - lol. I dont regret it although I did put my heel through it before I even walked down the aisle (my BMs didn't tell me this until later). If I could do it over again I'd probably try a site like valuveil first.

I spent $40 on my veil. I loved the one I tried on at the dress shop, but couldnt pay the $180 price tag. I found mine at a bridal salon that was going out of business.

$25 on Ebay after liking a similar one at the salon with a $180 price tag.  I'm only wearing it for ceremony and SOME pics, so didn't want to spend a ton!

$50 from an Etsy seller - custom made.

I made mine. Probably about $15. Plus a lot of aggravation, admittedly, because it's a mantilla style with alencon style lace I had to hand trim, but in the end I saved probably $2-300, so I consider the hassle well worth it.

15.99 from Ebay.  It looks exactly the same as anything you'd get from a salon.  They love to price gouge.

I spent about $8 on mine.  I made a simple fingertip length, one tier, raw edge veil.  It took me about 30 minutes.

Thanks ladies! Guess its not too bad then for a bridal store, prob could have hunted but glad it's checked off! I def prefer to be able to see the physical thing anyway before ordering, so online made me nervous. And I wouldnt know how to make it... I'm not suuper crafty

I had two - a double layer fingertip length one for the ceremony, and a birdcage for the reception.

For the ceremony veil, I found a beaded/decorated one I liked and which matched my dress at David's Bridal.  I didn't want to pay their $200 price for it, so I found the same one on eBay for $27.50.  Score!

I made my reception veil out of tulle and a hair comb.  I think it cost less than $5 for materials.  (I have sewing experience.)

Wow, I really don't know now if it is worth trying to cancel my order and find one on etsy... $240 is a lot, but is the hastle worth it going online? I've never bought from Etsy an I'm just very weary now with credit card saftey etc.

Oui why must I second guess every decision I make! I'm normally really good at doing my research first but I was in my dress trying on veils, so feeling pretty I acted on impulse.

Ah Ladies, I'm sorry but I need to vent breifly.... (sorry its long to anyone listening)

When I bought my gown, it was off the rack at a sample sale... I talked to the seamstress about the dress and she very passionately told me how she had the same lace thats in my dress and will custom make me a veil. I LOOVED the Idea and love lace trim veils. She very plainly stated I could wait until my fittings to arrange this and knew when my wedding is.

I went to the store, thinking if I found a less expensive one I liked i'd go for it rather than paying for a custom veil to wear for half an hour. Well when I asked the girl about the price difference, she proceeded to tell me she didn't know if they had the lace an the seamstress wasnt in, but she hunted amd the only thing she found was definately not the lace. To order the lace would end up closer to $400!
SO I bought a beautiful veil with pearl & beaded border since I was nervous about her not having the lace an didnt want to risk waiting. But I instantly doubted my decision because I had lace in my mind, but the ones on the rack were just too too much money.

I just called to confirm my fitting appointment, and to see if the seamstress was in to ask about the lace. If they had it I was going to try an cancel my earlier order. The receptionist was just SOO SOO rude an couldnt get a sentance out that made any sense. First she said oh, we have lace coming in... then it was oh no your veil is ordered an thats not the same lace, no we definately dont have that lace. Which was weird.
I am a little annoyed now, since the seamstress got my hopes high for a matching lace veil an implied it would only be around $150 an to wait until the fittings to find this all totally wrong. I know its my fault for allowing my hopes to be raised an not checking earlier but its frustrating, they could have at least been on the same page an nicer about it...  Now I totally regret my veil purchase but I think its too late to cancel an even the lace ones on Etsy are mostly $100+ GRR
