re-thinkng my dress

Ok...first off, I love my dress beyond words.  I think about it all the time and how amazing it made me feel.  I truly had "the moment" in my dress and I get butterflies everytime I look that a picture of it.

That all being said, I purchased this dress when my FI and I were planning a big wedding.  We are now having a DW wedding in Vegas with only two people in attandance (possibly 3 but unlikely).  I am really starting to think my dress is too much.  I also have a cathedral veil, which I love as much as my dress, that I dream of wearing, but I'm thinking that is way over the top.  The veil is one tier with lace all around the edge with lace appliques throughout

We are getting married at the Imperal Palace in Vegas (if that makes a difference)

Here is my dress...

Re: re-thinkng my dress

  • It's beautiful.  I think it would be easier to keep and a lot cheaper.  I'd keep it.
  • That's gorgeous.   Maybe make some kind of simple change to it so it doesn't feel so formal?  Maybe no train, or shorten it like Duds said.  Maybe even just a simple veil would tone it down, instead of the long one.
  • This is the 2nd wedding dress I bought.  I bought the first one under pressure from my friends and while it's pretty and more "me", this one gave me butterflies and it still does.  I can't wait for it to come in so I can put it on.  I'd sleep in it if I could.  (Bonus is, it's what my FI described as the style of dress he wanted to see me in.)

I guess I've already made my decision...I'm going to wear it.  My biggest issue is how to wear it around Vegas.  I paid $1500 for this dress, I want to wear it for more than 10 minutes!

  • it's your wedding wear the dress you love! all day if you want to. and i don't see a problem looking formal for your ceremony. who is going to judge you for it? it's a beautiful dress and would look stunning with a cathedral length veil.
  • It's beautiful as is. I vote that you wear it. It doesn't seem like too much at all, and it's  your wedding! The emotion in these words make it all worthwhile....

You'd do yourself a disservice to NOT get married in the dress!
  • Get married in the dress you love.  I've been to a Vegas wedding, and while we were there we saw several other brides in all types of dresses.  I don't think the fact that you're getting married in Vegas means that you should wear a simple dress.  By the way, your dress is beautiful, and I don't think it's too over the top at all.
