Dress Stress...Kinda.

Hi Ladies,

I would just like your thoughts on this. I bought my dress a few weekends ago. After reading through and responding to some posts I discovered that the dress I bought is apparently pretty popular. It's Maggie Sottero's Adorae.  I've seen a lot of people saying -  "they see if everywhere", "its so overdone" and "they're over it".

I ordered mine without the embellishment under the chest because I wanted it to be a little simpler.

I LOVE LOVE my dress. It was the first one I tried on. I really had no idea when I bought it that it was so popular. Now I'm just a little self conscious about it I guess. Am I being crazy and looking too far into this?

Re: Dress Stress...Kinda.

  • Here's the thing.... generally speaking, MOST wedding dresses look similar.  They're usually white, most of them nowadays are strapless, they're made from a lot of the same materials (satin, lace, silk, tulle..... not things like wool, tweed, etc.), and there's only a set amount of silhouettes they can be.

DON'T WORRY about whether your dress is too popular or worn by too many brides.

Worry about what you think is beautiful, and what you're comfortable with.  People aren't going to see you at your wedding and think, "wow, what a typical dress."  They're going to be thinking, "wow, look how beautiful she looks, and how happy she is!"

  • I just wore this dress on saturday for my wedding :) Believe me, nobody was telling me they are "over" the dress. I felt beautiful in it, and got a lot of compliments so I'm happy. Keep in mind that people that have seen a lot of the dress are most likely girls planning their own weddings. Most people don't follow bridal fashion quite that closely.

  • Your dress is gorgeous!!  I wouldn't stress about it, the same dress will look different on everyone!  And if you love it and feel beautiful in it, that will show :)

  • Thank you everyone. You really restored my confidence in my dress! :)
  • All that matters is that you love your dress.

When I got married (and even now) the whole one-shoulder thing was "in".  And everyone was like "I am so over the one-shoulder look" or "oh that is just a fad and those dresses may look dated".  But I didn't care because I loved my dress and I loved how I felt and looked in it.  Will it one day look "dated"?  Probably but one can say that about pretty much every single wedding dress.  Looks come and go but you have to wear something that you love now, not something that you may love 50 years from now.

  • I think it is a great dress! I don't think you have to worry about that just you love it and look great in it!
  • I will be an Adorae bride too, but it is such a flattering silhouette and I feel gorgeous in it.  What matters to me is how I feel in it and how it looks on me, not how many people have worn it.
