Veil Styles to Match Dress

What kind of veil should i pick?  My dress is below:  it's super lacy and the back is very dramatic, with a corset-like tie and ruffles.

I've been told that it should be something simple so as not to compete with the dress, especially since I want the back design to be visible.  But
-how short or long should the veil be?  I like the look of the cathedral veil, but maybe the finger tip length is more suitable?  I'm 5'4 so I don't want anything that will make me look shorter than I am.
-I think the sheerer, the better.  Would it look nice with a pencil edge? a few pearls scattered around?
-what kind of hairpiece to complement the look?  thin crystal tiara?  pearl?  crystal or pearl comb?
By the way, I'm planning to wear my hair half up, half down with curls.

Suggestions, please!

I don't know that I'd wear a veil at all with this dress.  Maybe just a headband or flower.

  • I would say maybe a finger tip or elbow veil.  You don't need anything else on it.  The pencil edge will just take away from the dress....along with any beading in the veil.  With a lace dress, there isn't much else necessary.  On top of that, the back looks like it is very pretty.  Don't take away from it :-)

However, if you really want a cathedral length veil, then you should do it, but, remember that the dress will be covered then.

The next time you go into the shop, try on different styles to see how you like it with the dress.  That's the best way you are going to be able to find something that suits you.  When you go, put your hair half up and half down so you can get a decent idea of what the look will be.  These things are usually very personal things, so you probably want to try different things.

  • I think either a veil that is just plain netting, or a simple live hair flower, like a gardenia, or even a white feather barrette.  Something that will adorn your hair but not compete with your dress or cover it up.  Show us a photo when you decide!Laughing
