pantyhose

Hi, I'm getting married at the end of October in Buffalo and my question is regarding pantyhose. I've been told most brides do not wear pantyhose so they can wear more strappy sandals and be more comfortable, but is the protocol to wear them?  I know it sounds like a silly question, but I was just wondering the different views on it.
Thanks for your advice.

Re: pantyhose

  • I've never worn them in my life, nor will I wear them for the wedding. I find them uncomfortable and restricting. There is no written rule that says you must wear pantyhose.

And besides, no one is going to see if you're wearing them or not.

  • i've heard that you're supposed to too - and i definitely plan not to! i don't think there are any super important reasons to wear them, and i definitely wouldn't if you'd be uncomfortable (i know i would be).

  • My mother thinks it's absolutely necessary.  I think my mother is crazy!  Hose are uncomfortable!
  • I've been debating wearing them because they would make my shoes more comfortable (which are not strappy). But I don't think I will, since I will be hot enough already with the huge dress, I don't need anything else to add to that. Not to mention, going to the washroom is already going to be complicated enough...
Really, nobody will notice one way or the other.
  • I've gone back and forth on this. My shoes are peep toe, so I woud have to find toeless stockings. I'm also more comfortable in those thigh highs that have silicone on the inside so they stay up on their own rather than waist band pantyhose. So yeah, toeless thigh highs....maybe.
I say wear or don't wear whatever you want on that day.
  • it is more conservative and traditional to wear pantyhose.  If you are wearing closed-toe shoes, and are worried about being cold or modest, then wear them, if you are going with open toe, then skip it.

have you ever noticed one way or the other if a bride is wearing them?  I havent.
