Bridesmaid dress colors? Help please :)

I could careless if their dresses are all the same style. If they all decide to match, then that's awesome for them. Since they all have completely different body types (and budgets), I thought I would just pick the color and then let them pick a dress styles that suits them and their budget and then everyone is happy.

We are having an outdoor wedding with a rustic theme. I love the Champagne and Golden colors at DB. I also like the colors Rose Petal and Ivory.

I want my MOH to stand out from the BM's.

For reference here is a link to  the DB Color Center.

  • Hmm Sugar this is tough, I really hope none of your BMs are pale.  My friend has her girls wearing champagne and it doesn't look too good (a lot of girls complained) on some of them because it clashes with their skin.

Personally, of those options I would only like to wear the rose petal color because I am pale and cool-toned so I look bad in tan/golden colors lol.  BUT if girls have the right skin tone, I do really love the color!  I would say a mixture is best because maybe your MOH looks best in champagne and the other girls can have either golden or rose petal (or in any variety).  In this case, I think it really helps to have your ladies help you with the decision, though the final decision is still yours.  Either way, the colors will look great together so I do not believe you can go wrong no matter what you choose.

  • ash, they all love the champagne/golden color but none have tried it on yet.  And yes, they are all pale except for one who is tanning bed/spray tan obsessive. I honestly didn't even think about their skin tones effecting it...must've slipped my mind.

  • I agree with PP....I am pale and while I love the Champagne and Golden, it wouldn't look good on me.  Rose Petal might be ok for me, but that's another shade of color I don't really buy.

The champagne and golden colors are so close I think it might look to the guests in the audience that their dresses are supposed to match but just...don't?

Because of that I'd pick just one of those two, and have the MOH in the rose petal color. I wouldn't try to combine the two colors that are so closely related to each other.
  • I was going to say what PP have commented: rose petal would be much more flattering on a range of skin tones, especially in photos, which tend to wash out colors anyway.  Could you differentiate your MOH by haivng her wear a a champagne or golden sash or carrying different flowers?

I agree with the PP. I am kind of having the same problem, I only have 3 in my BP, a matron of honor, a maid of honor and one bridesmaid. I got lucky and they all love the same dress but we are modifying each one so each stand out in their own way. If everyone wears rose petal and give your MOH something special to make her stand out or bring in another shade similar to rose petal for the MOH and work it into your flowers to blend it all together. Just a thought, hope it helps.

  •  Rose Petal  is better , which can match the theme of your rustic  wedding  :)

Which style do you like  ?  what about this one  ? http://www.prefectbridal.com/product.php?productid=41349&cat=120&page=4

  • I agree with Nicki & Belle. Maybe do either a champagne or golden colored sash for the maid of honor's dress to make it stand out a little.
