Do I have time to find a dress by June?

We want to get married this June or July and we are trying to book the date this week..... but I'm nervous about the timing since I haven't startied looking for a dress yet!  Do I have time to get a dress and have alterations done by June?

Re: Do I have time to find a dress by June?

  • Sure - if you don't mind places like David's Bridal that can quick order or placing a "rush order" that costs a bit extra but can get the dress here in time. I would get started right away. Don't expect to have time to order customization from the factory, however.

  • Well said in pp. Or you may have to try one of the websites that could rush it to you. Keep your eyes open for trunk shows, too and you may be able to get one on the spot for cheap and just have it altered.
  • That's what I was thinking...a trunk show - you can buy a dress right off the rack or a sample dress and just have it altered. However...I don't know about your area but I know all the Saturdays in June here were already booked when I was booking my date last fall. I opted for a Friday night wedding mainly because it is cheaper - but defiantly need to check your venues quickly! GL and congrats!
  • Depending on your size, a lot of salons have a few samples that they're selling.  It's worth calling around.

  • I know that Watters and watters makes 'quick ship' styles and they aren't shabby either.  Some of them are really fantastic.
  • Go to any bridal salon and ask for an samples they will sell off the rack. You can get good deals and find a dress quickly. I think if you are really motiviated and don't have your heart set on a certain venue, you can do it. Just get going soon! Don't forget about a photographer. I am 7 months out and just booked mine and a lot of my first choices were already booked. Good Luck.
  • Also, don't forget Ebay and "Nearly New" type shops and places like that.

  • Thanks ladies! I feel better about finding a dress in time.

Oh, and I'm not worried about the timing of the other details since we are doing a small destination wedding in the carribbean and almost everything will be taken care of for us by the hotel!
