Bridesmaid dress color all of the sudden unavailable

To make this long story shorter....
I had a dress dilemma a few months ago with regard to one or two bridesmaids INSISTING on a long dress even though I told them no.  To protect myself here, initially everyone wanted long dresses and it was only until they went and tried on a long dress (no idea why....) that they fell in love with it and threw a hissy fit when I told them no.

Anyway, I got them back on board with the dress yesteday and they went and got measured that same night. I go to the store to the order the dresses today (I'm paying for the dress and then they are paying me, I have two procrastinators and if I asked them to order it from the store, they'd take forever, the dresses are cut to order and I was hoping for all the same dyelot) and the color charcoal is not available in that fabric anymore!!!

Its not the store's fault at all, she said they didnt send her a notice about it and I was standing right there when she was talking to them.  They told her that their website is "live" and if charcoal and cotton voile was that important, I should've been checking.  She was shocked.

SOOOOO...now I'm back at the drawing board and super bummed.  I'm wondering if anyone on here has done charcoal gray or has seen any great charcoal gray bridemaids dresses out there.  I'm wanting a richer/warmer charcoal like not so much the cooler blueish gray.

I have had problems finding dresses for my girls too, and finally got them ordered today. Where is it you were shopping at? Thats ridiculous. My main goal was to keep the dress costs to a minimum, and I found a bridesmaid dress line at target )online only though). They have this gray color, which I love and my bridesmaids will be wearing too. Hope this helps a little bit!

I was going to suggest this same Alfred Sung dress....they are pretty affordable as far as bridesmaid dresses go and this style is very similar to the pic you posted. I love the Dupioni but they also have a similar color in Peau De Soie if you prefer that:

I do think it is more gray in person - often, colors are so off online.  Even if you don't like that style dress, check out other dresses in Bill Levkoff "Pewter" and see what you think.

@tamrahelmer - The dresses that WERE going to be ordered are through Dessy, the after six line.  I just checked Target and they do have a couple cute ones, I might just have to consider! Thanks!!!

@msuprincess and @MissKristen - I liked the Alfred Sung but I'm so mad at the Dessy group, and honestly not convinced they won't screw something up, I dont really want to order through them. I love JCrew dresses but I had to give up the idea of using them for BM dresses as on of my girls wears a size 20 I didnt want all of the girls to order from them and then put her in a different dress.

@ljsquintz - The Bill Levkoff dresses are gorgeous and I've seen the pewter and its just too blue, I wish it wasnt.

Oh too bad about Bill.  Have you looked at Alfred Angelo?  They have a "Charcoal" that looks like what you want.  Maybe something like this?  LINK

Pretty! I hadn't considered Alfred Angelo, its very close in color. The style wasnt as important as the color but that's pretty darn close in both ways!!

I had the issue of two bridesmaids ordered dresses earlier by a week than the third and that style dress wasn't going to be available in time for my wedding. UGH! Anyways at least you only have to find the dress in the color, and it's not like two people got their dresses already.
