Embarrassing, but... chub rub?

My thighs rub together when I walk. I usually wear boxerbriefs under my dresses on a regular basis to prevent chafing. I really don't want to wear boxer briefs under my wedding dress, but I also don't want to have painful chafed thighs for my week long cruise honeymoon. Pantyhose just makes it worse. Anyone have any other solutions for this?

Re: Embarrassing, but... chub rub?

  • Are you not wanting to wear them because you want to wear something sexy for that night?  What if you wore the boxerbriefs for the wedding and the reception, and toward the end you can go put on some sexy undies?  That way you don't have to walk around being uncomfortable all day.

Or if you are planning on wearing spanx or shapewear of that sort, they make them that are shorts.
  • I have a pair of slimming pantyhose that only go to my knees they help a lot. And I second Grits with shapewear, check the styles out. Good Luck.

  • Spanx is always a good way to go, but if you don't want to wear anyting under your dress, I suggest a chaffing cream by Monistat (http://www.amazon.com/Monistat-Soothing-Chafing-Powder-Gel-1-5-Ounce/dp/B0012ZNSWE) or any of the sports ones, such as BodyGlide (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dhpc&field-keywords=body+glide). Another option is just white stick deodorant, it may not wear all day and all night, but it works in a pinch.

  • I second the Monistat chafing gel.  It can do double duty as a makeup primer!  True! I use it all the time.

  • spanx... for sure!!! you cant even see them thru the dress. if the spanx ones make you feel like a sausage, try another briand like assets from target or go to a department store.

Runners tend to use powder deodorant on their thighs... maybe that could work? Never tried it myself!
  • I'm a runner and my friends swear by Body Glide anti-chafe balm for chafing... it comes in a deodorant stick applicator and lasts for a long time.  The deodorant works too!

  • I wore Spanx for this same reason.  I have also used the Monistat Chafing Gel.  Both work great.

  • Thank you for asking this. I was just thinking of this this morning. I was planning on wearing something to help with it and then changing into something sexy when I change my dress to leave the reception but didn't know what to wear. :) This just helped me so much.

  • Usually I can just use a good moisturize like Vasoline Total Moisture.  I always use this before wearing a dress for the day and have not had one problem yet.
  • Plain old' Secret solid in the scent of your choice works great.
  • spaaaaanx!
Then you get a slim tummy AND no thigh rubbing :) win-win
  • Thank you all for this thread. I have this problem and I never knew how to fix it. :)

  • Wow, thanks for all the responses and glad it was a questions others were afraid to ask! I picked out these cute nude panties with little ribbons to wear under my dress and then realized I would probably have to cover them up with manly boxer briefs. I will definitely check the shapewear and have used the Monistat anti-chafing gel before, just forgot about it. I will probably buy some more and do a trial run because I'd rather not wear something restricting and hot under my already hot dress (I was sweating getting fitted!). Thank you all!
