Do you like this bridesmaid dress?

What do you think?

The dress would be dark purple and tea length (fall just below the knee)

Do you think the flower on the side is too distracting?

  • I couldn't really see the flower until I enlarged the picture, and even then it's definitely not distracting.  I like the dress but agree with Opalsky about tea length.  It can look pretty matronly sometimes.
  • Do you guys think the dress would be better long?  The wedding is in July so I just worry that they'll be too hot and be tripping over the dress as they walk down the aisle.

  • If the dress is hemmed properly, they shouldn't trip over it. What fabric is it made of? As long as it's not some kind of polyester that won't breathe, floor length won't make a huge difference as far as temperature goes. I have a long strapless dress I like to wear in the summer that's quite comfortable.

  • What about doing knee length instead of tea length?
  • Just wanted to add...I have worm a long dress as a bridesmaid in the summer and it was fine. Long looks nice too.
  • Thanks girls! So if it were up to you, would you prefer long, cocktail or tea?

  • cocktail for sure, I find long bm dresses too stuffy and formal even if you're having a formal wedding.... which I had.

  • What does your dress look like? If the detail on the bridesmaid dress is less than yours then no, it is not distracting.

  • I really like cocktail length. I used to be all about long BM dresses, but cocktail has grown on me over the past couple years. I think either would look great; I would just be iffy on tea length.

  • hey there,

I like the dress. If I were a bridemaid I wouldn't care so much about the lenght, I would care more about the style and the colour. The dress i picked for my BMs are tea lenght but we are getting them altered to be shorter just right above the knee. Some of the girls are shorter than others. The flower is not distracting at all.
  • I did not even see the flower, so I'm going with no, its not distracting. I would prefer a long dress, but will not mind the tea length.

[QUOTE]I don't think it's distracting, in fact, I had to look pretty hard to see it. I like it! Just make sure it flatters your bridesmaids--not everyone looks good in tea-length.

Agreed.  Some of your bridesmaids may need a hem length shorter than tea length ...
  • I don't think it's distracting either.  If you don't like it, there's probably a way to remove it without ruining the dress.  A seamstress could probably help with that.

As for long hemlines in summer, I know four girls who got married between the end of May and the end of August, and in three of the four weddings the BMs wore full-length dresses.
