Plain band brides?

Call me old fashioned, but I'm not much for 'bling'. My E ring is a light blue topaz stone as I am not a diamond girl. I love them, without a doubt, but they weren't for me. I'd rather have a diamond necklace or earrings.

This brings me to our wedding band choices. I am extremely clumsy and am graduating in March with my degree in medical reception (Yes, it's actually a degree. Lol. Graduates from my program start at $15 an hour. The school and hospital work together...) and I type A LOT. Plus, I'm super hands-on and clumsy. So when I heard about tungsten, I was all over it! Especially since I'm very allergic to some metals and it doesn't scratch. We finally found bands that fit our needs (3mm for me!) and they are due to arrive in the store on Thursday.

I'm just curious how many "old fashioned" brides are here. I will be wearing my band and nothing else. I always admired my grandma's simple band. So, who's just wearing a band?

  • I think what kind of wedding band you wear is entirely up to you.  If tungsten fits your needs and lifestyle, then I think it's a great choice.   My wedding band will be a little bit "blingy" (about 9 very small channel set diamonds) but is otherwise thin, delicate, and "comfort fit".

  • My band will be plain gold and my e-ring is a solitaire with a traditional setting (family heirloom). I was thinking I would wear just the band sometimes, as my field is very hands-on, but I love my e-ring so much I'm not sure if that will actually happen (:
  • I have a plain platinum band and love it
  • My e-ring came as part of a set, and the band part is plain. No stones, no bling, nada. It it were more complicated, it wouldn't be my ring. Part of me wonders what I would have picked out if I got to pick out my own wedding band, but I know that my ring is mine, and it goes perfectly together, both with itself and with me.

  • I actually have a question for those who are wearing just their band, because I also like that look, what do you do with your e-ring then?  I've thought of wearing it on my right hand or possibly on a chain around my neck.  What do you plan to do?

  • I chose a plain gold band because my original e ring was a bit of overkill on the bling side.  Three stone, classic but IMO was a bit much for a 21 year old.

Now, when my daughter married she just didn't understand the meaning of too much bling so her wedding ring is platinum with diamonds set all around with a three stone e ring.

meh, everyone has different taste.  Choose what suits you and your FI.

You'll be married.  No one goes around checking the proof because it's not on the outside, is it?
