Dyeable Shoes?

So if they are scotch guarded do they still run if it gets wet?  Or if your feet sweat will your feet turn the color of the dye?  Any help would be appreciated.  TIA!

Re: Dyeable Shoes?

  • I don't have personal experience, so I can't give you much information.  I will say though, that I heard enough horror stories on here from people who had coloured feet or stained the bottom of their dress from sweaty feet and/or moist grass that I decided it wasn't worth it and just bought regular shoes even though they weren't the perfect/ultimate shade I wanted.

I've never heard of Scotch Guarding your shoes -- did you read somewhere that it helps to prevent the colour running?

That is what the lady at the bridal shop said.  So i did a little bit of research and am not coming up with alot of info... I really dont' care if they match or not - its just that I really hate that they are white.  They just happened to be the most comfortable shoes that I tried on and thats why i bought them, and i thought to make them less ugly i could dye them pink ... but am trying to avoid pink feet !  :)

ETA:  My shoes will be shown because I have a tea length gown.

  • My understanding is if you weather proof them it helps a lot. I dyed my shoes, I am not really concerned with them dying my feet TBH. If they do they do, our wedding is in May, so I wont be wearing flip flops for a least a month, and we arent doing a HM until at least the summer. But then with a tea length dress that is different!
IMO, Dyable shoes would be long gone if they really dyed your feet that often. They wouldnt make any money on them

  • I wore shoes that were dyed black for bff's wedding. I had sprayed them a couple times and and my feet were still black by the end of the night...aaaaand they stayed that way for two days :O(

  • I had my shoes dyed blue for my wedding and never had an issue.  I believe it will all depend on who is doing the job.  Just look for a reputable place but your feet shouldn't stain if the shoe has been dyed correctly.

Even if you have sweaty feet? I'm not saying I will - but i have a feeling I'll be super nervous and my feet my sweat ... and I really don't want to have pink feet for my HM :)

Did you have your shoes scotch guarded or waterproofed or whatever?

The day of my wedding I had them on from 2pm - 4am the next day and didn't have one single stain on my feet.  I did not have my shoes scotch guarded or waterproofed.  My wedding shoes were my third pair of shoes I had dyed and I never had an issue.  Maybe my shoe guy just rocks....idk.

  • Amber...even if you do get a bit of pink on your feet no one will notice.  They'll be looking at your awesome shoes, when they do see them.  I had to constantly pick up my dress so that I could show them off.  It was a fun surprise though.  Good luck!
