Engagement pictures (football jersey)

FI and I are huge GB Packers fans. I have seen some engagement pictures that incorporate a favorite football team jersey in it. I was thinking about doing custom jerseys with a 9 and 14 jersey since we are getting married on Sept 14 of next year. The only problem is...I don't know what to write on the back of the jersey. I'd like to be able to use them again which is why I don't really want them to say "Save" and "the date". We do have jerseys with actual players, but we want to make it a bit more personal.

Would it be weird for us to write our last name on it (future last name for me) before we are married? What suggestions do you have?

Here are some cute football engagement picture inspirations :)

  • I will give you the save advice as I gave the girl in the next thread- you should not use you married name until after the ceremony. It's an etiquette faux pas.

  • I think the jersey idea is cool.  You could do "Bride" and "Groom" on the back.  Or you could do your first names (ex "Jenny" and "Paul").  Then the effect for a save-the-date would be your names and date, which would be kinda cute:-)

Just FYI -- depending on where you get these jerseys done, they can be pretty expensive.  We did a Dolphins jersey for our guestbook, and to get an official jersey with personalized name and number was about $120 I think.  So x2, and it can get a little expensive.  Now, if you think you'll use these jerseys a lot (like to wear for regular season games) then go for it.  But I don't think I could picture myself wearing a jersey that says "Bride" or "Jenny" during the season....And $240 is a lot of money to spend for STDs.

  • You can't do custom With those numbers. There only do 00 with a custom name on the back.

<div>From the offical NFL website, I was able to pick whatever numbe I wanted -- we did "12" for 2012.   You might have to do "09" instead of 9, but it should be possible.  </div><div>

</div><div>The picture shows 00 but you can order whatever number you want.   There is a women's version of the jersey as well.  These are a little more expensive than what I remember paying ($150 for the men's jersey, $140 for the women's jersey...ouch!)</div>

  • Yeah, I would just go with first names.
  • First names are a good idea because you can wear them after the game too just like you would with the last name. The idea is cute.
  • Congratulations! My fiancé and I are doing the same thing (and have the exact same wedding date!) - I used his last name for the personalized jerseys. We will have them for a long time and didn't want anything too 'wedding-y' for future games. Best wishes!

  • First names would be good, or pet names for each other.... Like Schmoopy and Babycakes. I think the future last name is a great idea though, I don't think it's weird at all. Plus you guys can wear them for years of football seasons after the wedding. My FI and I plan on doing the jersey thing, too. We're huge NE Pats fans. But, I hadn't considered getting jerseys custom made. If I did I'd put our last (my future last) name.

  • We are doing the same thing!!!  Havent decided for sure if we want to use our player jersey or custom ones.  My jersey is the firt gift he ever gave me.  If we do custom ones we will do 12 and 16  (for Dec 16). His last name is Cooper so we would do Coop and Mrs. Coop on the back. I think it would be cute!!!  I'd rather have the personalized pic down the road I think.

    GO REDSKINS!!!!!
