black bridesmaid dress?

I originally wanted purple as the color but I can't decide on a shade I like. I really like this dress in black but I was wondering what everyone thinks of them. This is quite good. But I think if it could shape the waist more would be better.

I feel like it's pretty, and will be flattering on a number of silouettes, but I can't get the voice in my head screaming "maternity" to quiet down....

I am not a fan of empire waist dresses.  I wore one similar to the one you posted in a wedding (but in fuschia...eek!) and it made all of us look like we were hiding something.  It also did not give much shape to the breasts either.

But, I will say that if you have a variety of body shapes (large, small, curvy, straight, etc) then the style, if you want them all to wear the same dress, is a good one to go with.
