Different Colored Bridesmaid Dresses?

I will be having 3 bridesmaids and I was thinking about having all the same styles but 3 different colors.  Got the idea here: http://www.realsimple.com/holidays-entertaining/weddings/dress-attire/bridesmaid-dresses-two-ways-00000000009667/index.html. I think it would look good but can't find many pictures of it (I think it's a relatively new thing to do).  Has anyone done this or know of any examples?  Like/don't like the idea? If I don't do this I will probably do all one color and the girls can pick their own styles.  (Also, they have pretty different boob sizes so any ideas on what styles look good on girls with all size cups??)
Thanks!!

Re: Different Colored Bridesmaid Dresses?

  • I was in a wedding where this was done. She had four attendants, and we all wore the same dress in different pastels: light blue, light green, lavender and light yellow. The bride had us dye our shoes to match our dresses, but I think you could go either way on that. Everyone involved thought it was a great idea. We had fun with it. :)

I have seen it done in magazines.  It was different shades of blue.  It was nicely none.  Myself, I am having my girls wear the same color dresses; however they are each wearing a different dress.  All dresses will be made of satin and will be long though.  It looks great.
  • My mother did that in the 70's with pastel colors.  It was so awesomely bad! I only say bad because looking back on the dresses is hilarious - they had big hats and head to toe lace.  I think it's a great idea, though.  Really, you can get away with anything. BMs don't need to be matchy-matchy in my opinion.
  • I really like the look, especially when the colors are kept somewhat unified (shades of blue or green, for example).  But depending on your girls, it may be easier to go same color, different dresses, because it's usually easier to find a color that looks good on everyone than a single style.  Or you could do different color, different dress, and maybe give them a sash or a wrap to help tie them all together.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • We're doing same style dress, different colors. We went with Mori Lee in a halter top satin design in cocktail length. The girls are wearing lavendar, green, coral, and pink. I didn't want an army of clones at my wedding! :) I actually tried to get them to choose different Mori Lee dresses in the cocktail length, but they all picked this one as their favorite or second favorite, so we just went with it.
