Your wedding band!

FI and I are starting to shop around for bands, and I'm torn between different styles. So, I wanna know - what aspect of your wedding band is most important to you?

Re: Your wedding band!

  • My band and ering are a set, but my band is one that I can wear alone if I want, which I really like. That way, when I'mdoing things like hiking or gardening I can still wear that and leavemy e-ring at home. Here's mine, I love it!

  • Mine isn't made as a matching set but they go together very nice.  I have a princess cut solitaire, and my band is princess cut stones.  I love how they look together or separate.  The first band I really wanted had the diamonds in a horseshoe shape so it came around the diamond and looked like they were an anniversary band or something connected (i forget what those bands are really called).  But my e-ring is a cathedral setting and they would have had to change my setting for it, which I was against.  So I would just ask the jeweler if there is anything about your ring that limits what you can get or do with it.

  • Mine goes with, but is not a matching set to my e-ring. FI's is a plain, with a little detail white gold band. My band has diamonds on it, bc I really liked how it looked, trust me, I tried on so many rings before deciding which one, style, cut of diamonds, etc. I may wear the band sometimes without e-ring as well and it is perfectly fine to do so. I really liked that idea when I read about it somewhere a while back and that is one of the reasons I did not go with one of those enhancers or get them soldered together.
  • None of the above.  My wedding "band" is just a whole seperate ring.  My e-ring didn't really look right with any bands, plus it is gorgeous on its own so I moved it to my right hand when we got married and wear a wedding ring on my left.

Because of this, my answer would be that the most important aspect was that the ring was substantial enough to wear alone.  I don't really do delicate jewelry so I wanted it to be kind of bold since I wear it alone.

I chose a wedding band that looks good with my e-ring. It looks a little weird by itself because it's thin and has a curve to go around the stone in my e-ring, but I don't plan on wearing them separately so it works for me.
  • My e-ring was also part of a set, and one in which the wedding band is meant to be welded sort of around it. The band really wouldn't look right if it was on its own.

I work with animals, so I can't wear my e-ring to work.  It was important to me that I could wear my wedding band, however, so I chose a plain platinum ring, which is what I wanted anyway :)
  • The fave thing about my wedding band is that it has pink sapphires alternating with diamonds.  My wedding dress is a blush pink (see pics in my bio) and my ring will always remind me of that special day.

Mine matches the ering.  I love them together, and I can still wear them separately.

  • mine came with the e ring in a set. i would like a seprate band though, nothing fancy just so that i dont have to worry about knocking out a diamond while at work.
  • i'll be honest. we just picked the most inexpensive rings they had to offer. i love my e-ring, but we didn't really want to spend much on the bands, and he was worried about getting something nice and then losing it. it would have been nice for my two rings to go together, but not super important. i'll still wear them together, but i doubt too many will notice.

  • My rings came as a set.  Since I have a square diamond with a halo, the band is curved to fit around it.  While I love the set, I don't always want to wear my engagement ring, and I think the band will look weird by itself.  I might buy a simple band to wear alone, but I don't know how my fiance will feel about it.  It might hurt his feelings since he spent so much time looking for the perfect ring.  If it does, I'll just deal with it.  I love them so I don't mind!

  • Actually, DH picked his ring first, since he was having trouble finding something he liked.  I had initially chosen a wrap to go around my solitaire, but it turned out not to be available in palladium, and I couldn't find any others that I liked that were.  So I had mine custom made from a design I drew to complement both his ring and my engagement ring.  I'm so thrilled to have gone with the custom ring, I love that it's truly unique and truly mine.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Thanks for all the input, guys :)  My e-ring has a low setting, so I'm stuck choosing between a curved band or something I can wear on it's own but will leave a gap...  Decisions, decisions.
