Help me pick a color theme :)

I don't know what colors I want yet:

1. Black bridesmaid dresses with yellow and green accent colors
2. Black bridesmaid dressed with yellow and royal blue accent colors
3. Dark red and black theme

I love darker colors against my white dress, and I know my bridemaids would love to wear black dresses but... red roses/romantic theme is nice too.
A wedding is a party, not a performance. If at the end of the day you are married to the one you love, then everything went perfectly.

  • They all sound like they would be really nice, but I'm likeing option 3- red and black! You're right, it is very romantic!

  • I love the look of black with lime green.  Black with yellow reminds me of bees.  What about black, lime green and red?

    And a lime/red/black wedding here
  • They could wear black dresses with red accents.  Best of both worlds!

This sounds like a great idea. But go with your favorite!

  • I love the suggestion of pairing a bit of lime green with the red color!  It invigorates the two darker colors without compromising the romanticism of the red.

The "checkbook" side of me also thinks that incorporating red will allow you to take advantage of Christmas and/or Valentine sales for all things DIY!!
  • Black dresses with red accents.....
What about burgundy and navy blue as your accents...to keep from it looking like the 4th of July.?
The red with lime/light or mint green is pretty. Just don't get anything close to straight-up green: Christmas.
My best friend had us in black bridemaid dresses with deep red rose bouquets...it was really beautiful, classic, and all of us wear our BM dresses over and over, since they are black.
Yes, I agree with blackyellow being too much like bees.

  • Or, what about black with light, light yellow? And grey or silver? Never seen it, but it sounds like it would be beautiful, original, and elegant. I don't know.

  • I like Option 1 or Option 3...I'm not a big fan of blue and black together.

  •   I like the idea of red, black, and lime green as well.

  • Option 3 is my fav, but I'm a bit partial to it so I will always pick it if its an option. It is my wedding colors! And I think it is super formal and elegant and classic.
  • I'm a fan of black and green...but they all sound nice...  I think picking colors is soooo hard - i am having the worst time deciding myself.
  • Is your venue indoors or outdoors and also what month?

Thank everyone for the opinions it helps :)

I am getting married August, indoors (don't have a venue yet...)

  • I like the comment about black red AND green (or even white instead of green).  The green is easy because you can fill your arrangements with plenty of green, which can be much cheaper than flowers!  If you like the white option, you can get white chairs with red table cloths and black napkins with some red and white flowers (orchid branches and roses?)  You still get the romantic roses but when I think of black and red, i think of a movie of a bunch of vampires having a party haha.

  • I like the dark red and black for an inside venue and for August too!  You could do so much with this!
