Band Angst - PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello to all you lovely ladies!! (and gents too, if there are any)
I think I might have a situation that I'm not sure how to deal with. My boyfriend and I went ring shopping last night and he asked me what I like. I told him that it really didn't matter a whole lot to me except that I don't like yellow gold. At all. But as we talked I think I picked up on a few subtle hints that suggest that he really likes yellow gold over white. I know that if I stick to my guns, he'll take the white because he's not too worried about it. But I really want him to have something that he likes. So my question is, 'Do the bands have to be in matching colors? If I get white, is it ok for him to have yellow?' He farms and won't be wearing the ring while he works because it is just too dangerous, so I know I'm already going to have to remind him to put it on. But if it's something he doesn't like then I think he's just going to be less inclined to wear it. Any thoughts? Ideas? Opinions?

HELP!!!!

Thanks!! :)

  • Your bands don't need to match.  You can have white gold and he can have whatever he prefers.

My daughter's band is all diamonds and sapphires, there is no way on the face of the earth that her husband would have gotten a matching band,  His is plain white gold because that is what he wanted.
  • I'm getting a white gold band and my FI is getting a dark titanium band. They def. don't have to match.

  • My band will be white gold and his will be yellow. His father passed away when he was two and it was yellow gold, and doesn't want to have it dipped, which is totally fine by me!

Go with what you both want, the only time that anyone will even notice whether or not your bands match is in pictures from your wedding (most photographers will take a picture of your hands together with your rings on) If you don't want this picture taken, tell the photog!

  • It really doesn't matter if they match. If you want something to bring them together, you could engrave the same thing inside each. My band will be white gold and FI's is tungsten. Tungsten and titanium are very strong and scratch resistant and would withold his farming.
