Weather - Early October

Ladies,

I'm getting married in NH October 2nd and have rellies coming from Australia, who are concerned about the weather, and since I haven't lived up there for several years (and was never an NH native), and my fiancee can't give me a good answer. So my question - what do you predict the temperature to be like the first two weeks of October? My current guess is chilly fall weather, so jeans and long shirts at least - but will it be in heavy jacket season (again bear in mind these people live in Australia, the coldest their winter gets is probably the mildest one you will ever see).

Thanks!!!

New England it tough.  It could be cool, like you're describing, but it could also be quite warm.  A heavy jacket is most likely unnecessary.  Unfortunately, it's tough to say.  I would check something like the Farmer's Almanac (usually fairly accurate) or even weather.com to see what average temps are like.  HTH!

Where in NH are you getting married?  The further north you go, the chillier it could be.  I wouldn't expect anything above 80, but you never know!!!  I wouln't expect that they would need a heavy winter type jacket in early October.

It could be 74 degrees or 47 degrees in early October. It's reallllly tough to predict, hence the phrase "If you don't like the weather in New England wait 10 minutes, it will change." Generally, low 60's, high 50's is a good educated guess.

I would guess 60s to 70's.  A light sweater might be needed, but not a heavy jacket!  Smile

I would say your relatives should pack light sweaters and a light jacket. I find that layering is the best option in early October. It could be 65-70 with the sun out, and once it goes behind the clouds I find myself reaching for a sweater.

The weather will most likely be crisp with some chilly breezes and hopefully no rain!!

I've been to weddings the first weekend in October, during the day it was hot but once the sun went down it cools off quick.

I'd say pack to wear layers if needed.  Some short sleeves, some long sleeves, and a sweater or sweatshirt and maybe a light jacket.  In New England, anything could happen!

I think you are all right, layers seems to be the way to go, and glad to see the rest of you had as hard time pinning down the weather in NH.

I'm getting married in Manchester, reception in Hampstead(Granite Rose), sorry I didn't respond earlier but I lost net/phone/cable to my house and won't have it for another week (awful thing to happen a little under fifty days before the wedding!!!!)

    As always thank-you ladies!
