Bespectacled Bride

Ladies:
I am trying to decide whether or not I should wear my glasses for my wedding in November. I wear them most all of the time, and I know it should be however I feel most comfortable...but I'm worried that I could end up with pictures that have that *AWFUL* glare on the glasses that can't be fixed.  I feel like my face looks naked without glasses but I'm also concerned they will screw up my pictures and my whole wedding day look. Anyone have any experience with this? Brides that have chosen to wear glasses, did you regret it once the pictures came or was it the right decision?

  • I didn't wear glasses, but I would think that photographers should know how to photograph people in glasses without the glare.  Maybe ask your photographer what he suggests.

  • If you're uncomfortable without your glasses, you should definitely wear them.  Talk with your photographer, he should be able to work with you on that.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • My thought is that if you always wear glasses (as I do) then you should wear them.  I know that when I take mine off, I automatically squint.  If I don't I look like a deer in headlights as I try not to squint and look "natural".  Is that really a better look for your photos than with your glasses on?

Your glasses are part of who you are.  Don't change something so basic to your appearance for the sake of pictures.  A good photographer will know exactly how to angle you, how to shoot the pictures to get a good and natural picture.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Can you take pictures both with them on and with them off?  Then you can have a selection and see which way you like them better? Also ask your photog about it. Let them know you are concerned about having glare on your glasses and they can watch out for that when they take pictures or possibly have you remove them for pictures that they can not get away from the glare? I'm sure a professional photog will be able to take pictures of you with your glasses on without a problem.
  • Make sure your glasses have a no-glare coating, go ask the place you bought them from if you aren't sure. If you don't have the coating I would reccomend getting lenses that do, especially if you have thick lenses.
