Gown Alterations

What is the average price of gown alterations? I am not looking at anything very drastic, just a hem and some darts around the bust of my dress. It does have lace applicay and beading though.

    Well, it depends on how detailed your dress is. And this is something that can vary by state/area you live in.

    My alterations including the bustle were around $350 in the central Ohio area. I could have got them done for maybe a little cheaper (I ended up having the bridal salon where I got my dress do them), but I was an out of state bride and had to do what I could when I was home. I felt comfortable with them and it was the easiest since I didn't have a lot of time and it wasn't something my Mom or sister could have done for me.

    It varies sooo much from seamstress to seamstress, and also regionally. I would ask around on your local board (links are in the top left) for what ladies in your area have paid for their alterations in order to get a better idea of what you can expect to pay. Also be sure to ask how satisfied they are!  Cost isn't the only thing to consider when choosing a seamstress.
