Re: How much $$$ did you spend?

  • At this moment in time I have spent nothing on my dress - I am wearing my mother's.

Unfortunately, it needs to be cleaned and I need to lose quite a bit of weight to fit into it.

i have no idea how much cleaning, alterations or possibly having a whole new dress made will cost - but I'm going to try to keep it as low as possible.

  • My budget was originally 1000 but davids bridal didnt have the dress that was 900 that iw as dying to try on. their loss. I ended up with a dress on sale plus a coupon put it at 295. suckers. :P

Dress: $400 (purchased the dress I wanted from another bride! orig. $1,400)
    Alterations: $200
Veil and Headpiece: $200 (gift from Aunt)

Word of warning--tell the sales ladies your budget so they don't bring you something over that you fall in love with.
  • I spent a total of $1252. $952 for the dress (including tax) and $300 for alterations.
  • My original budget for the dress was 400. Once I started looking I changed it to under $700.
In the end, I ended up spending $199 for a $1200 dress at a sample sale. $150 for alterations.
  • I just picked out my dress today. I was wanting to spend about 500, but I decided to go with one that was 800 because I loved it. I am waiting a few weeks to buy it just to be sure. I might go to a few more stores this week just to be sure, because I really don't think it is worth it to spend that much money on a dress.  And I know I will have to have lots of alterations done, because I'm 5' tall and 100 lbs, which makes every single dress waaaaay too big on me. :(  Uh oh, now I'm second guessing my choice.
  • I wanted to spend $1k ideally on everything...dress, alterations, veil, shoes, bolero/jacket for ceremony.

    Dress: $795
    Hollow to hem: $180
    Veil: $250
    Bolero: $150
    Shoes: $80
    Bustle: $90
Alterations: $0! The hollow to hem covered the length and the rest fits me like a glove!

    Grand total: $1545

  • I wanted to spend under $1,000 for the dress

Dress including shipping/tax and my crinoline petticoat = $750 + $20 for alterations

My parents ended up surprising me and paying for my dress, which was amazing
  • I spent less than $200 total
    Dress: $100
    Veil: $15
    Shoes $40
    Crinoline and hoop: $30

Alterations are supposed to run less than $100 as all I need is a bustle and some light altering on the waistband

My budget for the entire wedding is less than most people spend on their dresses, however.
