Redesign mother's dress

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew of a taylor in the Long Island/CT area who repurposes wedding dresses. I saw a show on TLC where they redesign a family member's wedding dres to something more modern. I would love to do this with my mother's dress so I was wondering if anyone knew of someone who did this!

Thank you :]

  • Good luck with your quest!  I just had my final fitting in my dress, which is my mom's repurposed.  Love that the show is out now - it is such a wonderful tribute to my parents marriage and not to mention, the quality of dresses 30-40 years ago is far superior to what you get now.  All silk and lace, none of that polyester nonsense!

  • Does anyone have an idea of how long something like that would take? My mom has her dress from 1975, and we've both seen the show and think it's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if I have enough time for a July wedding.

  • I live in CT and I LOVE that show on TLC!  The redesigned dresses look way more interesting than the new dresses plus nothing compares to the sentimental value of wearing your mother's dress.  Good luck!
