Jeans issue.

My brother got married two years ago and certain family members wore jeans and flannel shirts. So, in order to NOT have this happen at my wedding, what is the best way to describe the attire for the wedding as well as the reception? Would business casual be a good statement?

Re: Jeans issue.

  • My vote is adding something about 'semi-formal' to the invite. Could you also somehow get the word out that you're looking forward to some great pictures of your guests in their 'sunday best' lol :)
  • Haha! I put it up on our wedding website but I definitely will put that on my invite! some off my brothers photos look like a hoedown instead of a wedding!!

  • Yes. Go with semi-formal - definitely not business casual. That just makes everyone think of work, which is depressing to most people! haha.

However, the best way to ensure that people wear the correct attire is to enlist family members to spread the word. Get your mom and/or maid of honor or anyone and everyone to help spread the word that jeans are not acceptable.

I have the same concern for my wedding. We are  having a small wedding [like 30 people] and are hosting it at a private residence that we are renting for that week, but I am making sure that everyone gets told not to wear jeans. Some people honestly just don't know that they are supposed to get more dressed up, even for 'casual' weddings. So get someone to tell them bluntly!
