First fitting

I have my dress!  Yay!  I am currently trying to find a good seamstress and hope to have my first fitting to get pinned this week or next.  None of my family lives near me.  Should I bring someone with me for that first fitting?  I think I'm going to ask FMIL to come with to at least the final fitting, but I wasn't sure if I should ask her to come to all of them.  Is there any advantage to having someone else there?!

Re: First fitting

  • Yes, it's fun to have someone along, and depending on how hefty your dress is, you might need help getting into it.

  • I didnt take anyone to my fittings, it's not necessary till your last one.

The first, there was someone there to help me into the dress. The last one, you will need to take someone so the seamstress can show them how to bustle the dress for you.

  • The seamstress laced up my corset back dress each time. I brought a BM and MOH one of my fittings so they could be shown how to fasten the bustle and properly do up the dress.

  • I just went to mine on Tuesday. I went by myself. The girls there helped me with getting in and out of my dress. I will take someone to the next one so that they can see how to bustle the train. But to be honest, it was nice doing something on my own. I've been trying to involve everyone so much in different parts from the parents, bridal party, etc. that it was nice to do something on my own.
