HELP! Bridesmaid Dresses Wrong color!!

Okay,

I need some help - I've heard of Bridesmaid dresses coming in in the wrong shade of blue or that they didn't match the swatch before - but my wedding is less than 2 months away, and one of my girls went to pick up her dress and instead of NAVY... it was ordered in IVORY!!!

The bridal salon is trying to convince me that ivory is a great color (think Royal wedding...) for bridesmaid dresses! But that's totally not what I want!!! Anyone have any ideas? I'm so frustrated I've run out of problem solving skills...

Re: HELP! Bridesmaid Dresses Wrong color!!

  • Um, they need to replace it with the correct dress.  Now.  Do you have proof that Navy was requested?  If so, inform them that they are in breach of contract.  Also, leave bad reviews on all the websites you can find.
  • Yeah - it's written on their form and on my receipt that they are supposed to be Navy... and they can't seem to find a place to ship them to Canada before July 30th - which doesn't leave any time for my girls to get them and get them altered and stuff before the 4th of August!

Get your $$ back and go elsewhere.  You might not get the same dress, but at least you could get something other than ivory!

Agree with PP- get the money back and find another dress. Even if it's not the same, it won't be SERIOUSLY different and Navy shouldn't be too hard to find, maybe you can even find something similar.

  • that is absolutely ridiculous.  I would get your money back.  Or, see if THEY can find a dry cleaner or seamstress who can dye fabric to match your other dresses, and tell them they need to cover the cost of dying it.
  • are all your girls dresses ivory or just 1 of them??? this seriously sucks! get your money back! the store is trying to make you pay for their mistake and not trying to own up to the fact that the mistake was  made! don't compromise the vision you have of your wedding because of their mistake! oh i am pissed for you! That store needs to fix their mistake!
  • I agree with previous posts, if the dress came in as ivory when the receipt clearly said navy the store is at complete fault and needs to fully reimburse you for their mistake if they are unable to fix it.

  • dear, If I were you , I will directly ask them to give my money back, and buy new ones in real store.  they are the ones who break the contract, they should be in charge.
  • I can't get over the fact they are trying to convince you ivory is a fabulous color when you wanted NAVY!!!  I would have demanded a refund on the spot.  You didn't take the dress home did you?
  • Who makes the dress?  If it is a common designer, you may be able to rush order one from another website, and make the original store pay for it.

all 4 of my bridesmaids dresses came in the wrong color as well and i had proof that they told me the wrong color name when i ordered.  the store owner spoke to the manufactor and will rush order new ones for me.  i'm a bit over 2 months away as well and none of my girls have any dresses.
see if they will rush order for you without paying extra, i also told them that they are paying for the restocking fee and not me.  be firm with them bc they do try to tell you to keep the wrong color, the owner did that with me too.

  • The storeb tried to cover itself by trying to convince you that you really wanted ivory?  That's rediculous...sounds like when my seamstress tried to tell me that my groom would be happier marrying me if I stuffed the bust of my dress because she didn't want to do the work to take the bust in.

Get your money back and make sure the shop is covering the entire cost of restocking the dresses.  Then, go to either a department store or David's Bridal and get dresses in the color you want (FYI, Penney's has a nice selection)
  • Thank you all for your help! They all came in in ivory - and they couldn't get any up to us in time for the wedding (people don't like shipping to Canada I guess...) but the store owner is giving us all our money back and has their seamstresses doing custom gowns for all my girls at no charge! I have to say - when in doubt, talk to the store owner!
