Dress Confusion...

You know how they say when you find the right dress, you will just know?
Well I have found 2 dresses that I feel, both, have "the one" feeling about them...Just looking for a little advice.
I am 5'4" and 120 lbs. Petite build.

Take a look at my final two, and tell me what you think...

Re: Dress Confusion...

  • It's hard to say without seeing you in it. But if you are a more petite build I'd go with #2
  • It's hard to say, because both dresses are beautiful, and actually somewhat similar. I think whatever you choose would depend on your personality and the setting for the wedding.

I would define "Carrie" as more of a show-stopper. The volume and detailing of the skirt also make it feel softer. The bead-work on the bodice is beautiful. Overall, it feels a little more formal than "Avalon."

"Avalon" has that subtle, take-a-second-look appeal. At first glance it seems pretty simple and straight-forward, and then you notice the ruching on the bodice and detail around the neckline.

I think either silhouette would be flattering for your stature.
  • i love the carrie, the dropped waist with assymetry is beautiful on a lot of figures, but they are both very nice
  • I think both are very beautiful dresses. I think it also depends on the type of wedding you plan on having. The "Carrie" dress seems more formal. I feel like the "Avalon" dress looks more night gown-ish...b/c of the fabric. If I had to choose b/w the two though, I'd probably pick "Carrie" b/c of it's intial WOW factor! GL! :)

  • My only concern would be that Dress 1 would be a bit too much on you if you're petite.
  • I vote 2 because you have a petite build.

  • Too much skirt can be overwhelming for petite builds, but I think "Carrie" is small enough of a skirt to not give you that problem.
The gathering on "Avalon" would would probably be really flattering for your waist since you're small.  I can see the night-gown comparison if you didn't accessorize it, but I think it has an old Hollywood glamour look.
If you're able to get a pic, I'd like to see what they both look like or which one you choose.
  • I think dress 1 is absolutely gorgeous! I would love to see the two on you. I wouldn't be too worried about it being too overwhelming because 5'4/120 doesn't sound overly small to where the dress will eat you up.

  • I like dress 2.  But I go for a simpler look, every time, so I'm probably not much help if you like really dramatic, show-stopping gowns.

  • I personally like Avalon better, but I am biased because my dress was similar to that style.  Over on the Vegas board, there's a Knottie who just got married and she wore Carrie.   I think she's about your height. I don't think the dress overwhelmed her at all.
