Veil? Yes? No?

Hey ladies,
I'm wondering what kind of veil (if any) to wear with this dress.  Before I found my dress I thought about wearing an illusion birdcage veil for the ceremony.  Now I'm not so sure that will look right with this dress.  I really don't want to wear a longer veil.  I'll be wearing my hair all down or half up, if that helps and I'll probably put some sort of decoration in it (something sparkley or a flower).

Also, the top of the dress is like A LOT sparklier than it looks in these pics.

Any suggestions?  Thoughts?

Re: Veil? Yes? No?

  • I wore a veil with my dress and I hated that damn thing.  It was an utter pain, got in the way constantly and I could not get rid of it fast enough.  I think an up&down do with sparkly hair acessories would be pretty with your dress and skip the veil.
  • How about a hair accessory instead?  I'm not a veil person, I selected a bejeweled ribbon head band and I love it.

This.  I just can't see a birdcage with your dress (which is awesome, BTW).

  • I love your dress but I also don't picture a birdcage veil with it. I really don't care for veils period so I will not be wearing one.

  • A birdcage looks best with a more tailored dress.  If you do wear a veil, I'd make it elbow length.
  • I wasn't going to wear a veil, but my parents both really want me to so I'm literally only going to be wearing for the ceremony (and hence...not spending a lot of money on it).  With your dress I would go for a simple, elbow length veil - I don't think a birdcage veil would quite fit imo.
  • I'm just not totally sold on a veil at all.  Which is why I was considering the illusion birdcage veil.  And then when I picked my dress I knew it really wouldn't mesh.  But I wanted your opinions here.  I'll probably just wear something sparkley if I can get the hairstylist to get it to stay in my baby thin hair (Seriously I have problems with regular bobby pins)

  • your waist look so tiny! and about the vail.. i would totally go for it.. but i'll wear a short one, a waist lenght.. to accentuate your small waist..
  • Just do a back one past the shoulders, set back in the hair. I did that without a blusher and it was perfect. I didn't want that thing in  my face, but I did want a veil. Kept it on for pictures, but took it off before the reception and then you could see my hair accessories. It does make you feel more bridal for the ceremony.
  • Well Kame, you are my new best friend! haha.  Thanks so much for the compliment.  Trust me when I say its all the dress making it look that way. Seriously I have boobs but from there down I have NO curves.  No waist line, no hips, no butt.  Even my legs are about the same width.  Its weird.  And I've lost 120 lbs so I'm gonna have to have my arms worked on in August so that will help the overall look.

I've decided just to wear something sparkley and nix the veil idea entirely.  I wasnt' ever sold on a veil anyways.  Plus I picked my hairstyle so I think just a smallish sparkley something will be perfect.

Thanks everyone though, all your opinions really help

  • I don't think the birdcage is the right veil for the dress either.
I'm not totally sold on a veil either..I'm leaning towards a headband myself.
