Shoe opinions, please!

I am wearing flats with my wedding dress.. I hate them, but they saved me from ordering extra length on the dress and I want to be shorter than my FI during the ceremony.  (I do plan on changing into short reception dress with heels later).

Question...  Bridal salon suggested closed toe ballet flats so you don't see my toes at all when I walk.  However, I was thinking that dressy sandals would be okay.   We are getting married on a polo/horse farm, all outdoors, ceremony in grass, a very relaxed vibe....groomsment aren't wearing jackets, no tie on the groom.

Any thoughts?   open toe or closed?

Re: Shoe opinions, please!

  • They suggested closed toe so you can't see your toes?  Really?  I guess all the brides wearing strappy heels or peep toe pumps (like I did) are screwed!  LOL!

Pick a pair of shoes that you love and are comfortable in and forget what your bridal salon said because it is nonsense.

  • You can totally wear open toe, that's just silly.

I don't see ANYTHING wrong with open toe!

  • Wear what you want and is most comfortable, of course, but do consider the shop's advisement. My bridesmaids wore heeled white sandals and every picture on hardwood showed toes peeking out below the long dresses so it looked like they were barefoot. I think it wasn't a length altering problem as three of the four were 5'3". Bridesmaids dresses aren't as fluffy and full as wedding dresses, so maybe that was the reason for all the toes.
  • Thanks ladies!  I thought it was a little silly too, but just wanted to double check with the experts.
  • My shoes are heels, but are peep toe. No one had clutched their pearls yet when I've told them about the shoes.

  • Find something comfortable and cute. That is all that matters!

  • It's your wedding and you should wear shoes that you like and are comfortable in.  This is coming from someone who hates looking at toes.
  • A lot of women wear open toe shoes for their wedding, shouldn't make a difference just because you are wearing flats instead of heels.
