Storage?

My wedding is on 3/14/2015 but I fell in love with a discontinued dress so I've already bought it. Given that my date is so far away how can I store it? It's a satin a line with a sweep train. Would it be worth the money to go ahead & preserve it?

I'd just wrap it in a clean bedsheet and put it in a large cardboard box.  While I wouldn't pay to have it professionally preserved, I would invest in buying an acid-free box ( like these http://www.amazon.com/Acid-free-Storage-Linens-Quilts-Keepsake/dp/B000W3WNYQ ) as "normal" cardboard can leech into the material over years.

Find somewhere cool and dry to keep the box - preferably somewhere that the temperature doesn't fluctuate a lot.

I have been storing my polyester satin gown in a closet in a fabric garment bag since August 2010 for my wedding which is next month, and it's been fine.  If you purchased your gown off the rack or gently used ditto CMGr that it might be worth taking it to a cleaner's you trust to get out any spots/smudges/sweat/etc.  I got my dress off the rack at a sample sale -- which is why I got it so far ahead of time when I stumbled across it -- and the cleaning was well worth the price to remove the makeup stains and grime on the train from when people had tried it on.
