Just as personal preference, I don't really care for white flower girl dresses. I have this vision of my girls wearing pink dresses with tulle on the bottom.
My sister found dresses at Target for only $20 that are the PERFECT style, but it's a very very light pink.....the kind of pink that is close to being white. I want it to be a little more bubble gum pink. I was thinking of dying them, but the top half of the dress is polyester. Dying polyester is a complicated process that I'm not sure I could do.
Sooo....I have been thinking of options,
I have read that polyester does take to fabric paints. I was thinking I could dye the dresses with RIT, so the tulle on the bottom would take the dye but it would wash out of the top part. I found a fabric paint that is the perfect color, question is...do you think that painting the top portion would work? Only a very small section of the top would actually show after I add a brown sash and flower to the strap. My sister thinks the paint might be too thick. Do you think I could thin out the paint?
While contemplating the above option, I continued looking for a different dress and found NOTHING. I looked at all the Easter dresses and flower girl dresses. I"ve looked online at FG dresses and again found a cute style but they are white and all seem to be polyeser....so back to square one.
Has anyone tried painting polyester and have advice? or have any of you found FG dresses that are a fabric that is dyeable?
