Too formal for route 66 theme???

Ok ladies I need advice!! We're having a casual route 66 theme backyard wedding. Almost everythingis planned out.... except the dress! I wanted something short and simple and even found some nice dresses that would go great with the theme and fit what I was looking for. So the problem? I happened to come across a dress originally worth thousands of dollars for less than $200!! The thing is it's a little more formal than what I was looking for even though when I first saw it when it cost over $3,000 it was love at first sight even then and now that I CAN afford it I'm compleatly torn on what to do!!! HELP!!!!
Do I stay casual or go for the "dream dress"??

  • I think it's lovely, and totally appropriate.  Just checking though, it's cheap becuse it's on sale, not from a knock off site, right?

I'm not 100% sure to be honest because I found it on Ebay, but I do know that I can no longer find it on the original designers sight or any of the other dress sights I guess because it's a 2011 style dress.
  • I think that you should go for it :) If you think that this is your dress then you should get it! That is what I did <3
  • I say go for it! i think it's cute

  • Thanks everyone for the advice!! It's really helped alot!!  Smile
  • From your headline, I thought you were going to go will a full length gown with train.  But that dress, while not casual, I think will still fit with your wedding.  The bride is SUPPOSSED to be dressed up.  What is the groom wearing?  You will want to match in level of formality.  I can see the groom in a suit without a tie kind of casual outfit, but not in jeans with this dress.

  • go for it, but make sure its not a "knock off" from some chinese site as the dress might truly not look like the pic
  • Honestly I'm not too worried about it being a knock off because if it's not exacty like the picture it's fine. In fact it kinda works out for me in a way because their able to make the alterations that I wanted that the original designer didn't offer (also at no extra charge). I'm one of those people that doesn't want to dish out tons of money for a dress to be worn once lol. Also the reason I asked the question is because most of the guests (and the groom if he can get away with it!! lol) will be wearing jeans.
