Add a corset on a dress change the size?

So I found a dress I LOVE, but its only available in a 14. I am a 16w, do you think adding a corset and taking out the zipper would make it fit? Also if anyone did this, what did it cost?

What about through the hips/butt part of the dress?  Is there any princess seaming in the front that will be off?  I would talk to a seamstress in your area and take several pictures of the dress with you.  This may add several hundred dollars worth of alterations and not be worth it.  Can you find the dress in your size in another shop or online?

This is the dress, its discontinued in all sizes except a 2. lol. its been discontinued for quite a while. Ive looked all over online for used ones and cant find anything bigger then a 14 thats current.

I don't think that's likely to work out for you, unfortunately. It looks like it's tight through the hip, and a corset will do nothing to fix that. In addition, wedding dress sizes don't correspond to street sizes, so that 14 may fit like a street size 10 or 12.

Luckily, this is a popular style right now, and you can probably find another very similar dress in your own size. Good luck!

If anyone can find anything similar to an all over lace with pickups I would be appreciative. I cant find anything similar. I tried a similar one on in the store and I cant remember if it was tight in the hips, I wasnt paying attention to it.

Some other options:

Allure carries a lot of beautful lacy dresses, though this was the only one I saw with pickup:

Demetrios, Maggie Sottero and Sottero and Midgley each have a lot of pickup-skirt dresses in organza, which looks and feels lightweight, but isn't lace. You might want to check them out too.

Thanks for trying to help. Im really stuck on the all over lace with pickups. I have found so many with organza or other light weight material but Im in love with the lace, gunna have to get it custom made I guess..
