Groomsmen attire help!

Our wedding is a casual rustic themed weddding in the fall so we really didn't want the groomsmen in tuxes.  My Fiance tried on a kahki suit that was perfect and looked great!  Then came the price tag.  I simply can not ask the four groomsment to pay over 300 dollars for a suit when most of them are already paying for airfare to the wedding. We have tried to find somewhere that would rent them and have come up empty.  How can we get around this?  It doesn't look like we can find much less expensive online so we thought about having them purchase a khaki jacket and then pick out their own kahki pants but I'm worried about the color/tone clashing if it's all different (especially tops/bottoms).

Did anyone else ask their groomsmen to purchase new suits or did you find somewhere that rented them?

The wedding is two months away!! AHHH

Does your FI want them all in jackets, or is he O.K. with just khaki pants and a shirt and a tie? They could all purchase the same pants, maybe from a department store or even The Gap or something, and you could get them all a matching tie.

Or the groomsmen can just wear vests, no jackets? (And your FI could wear the full suit?) I'm thinking of that "JK Wedding Dance" that was all over YouTube and on The Office a few months ago. The guys all wore the same thing, but different "levels" ... the groom wore the jacket, vest and pants; the groomsmen wore the vest and pants; and the ushers wore the pants (all with white shirts and matching ties): http://www.jkweddingdance.com/JK/img/jill_and_kevin_wedding_party.jpg

This wedding also has the guys in vests, no jackets: http://offbeatbride.com/2010/08/virginia-wow-spanish-wedding

Or maybe it'd look nice if the groomsmen were in khaki pants and navy blue blazers? And your FI was in the khaki suit? Blazers aren't too expensive.

  • I like the idea of having the groomsmen in just shirts and ties, or shirts, ties and vests. Cheaper, fits with your rustic theme, and more comfortable. October in the South is still hot!

We recently had a customer out of NY who needed 7 groomsmen suits within 6 weeks for his casual outdoor wedding (he opted for light grey instead of khaki).  Once he provided the grooms measurements we were able to get him the 7 custom made suits within 2 weeks factory-direct.
Turns out that all of the groomsmen were all pretty happy because the suits fit well (custom made).   Contact us directly so we can determine if Proper Suit can fit your needs.
