parents/grandparents attire

My colors are pool blue, ivory, and black. What color(s) should the parents wear? And does the father of the bride usually wear a tux or just a nice suit?

Re: parents/grandparents attire

  • They can wear whatever they want.  As for the FOB wearing a tux/suit, that would be dependent upon a) the formality of the event and b) what he wants to wear.

  • The parents and grandparents don't need to coordinate with your wedding party or wedding colors.  They won't be in many (if any) pictures with your wedding party so it won't matter.

  • I'm having the FOB FOG in tuxes, and the rest in just nice attire-- they're grown ups and can dress themselves, but I want my dad in a tux

  • We gave the dads the option of renting the tux we'd reserved or wearig a nice suit.  My dad and FIL rented the tux, and my stepdad invested in a new suit off eBay.

The only people whose attire you get to dictate are the attendants.  Everyone else can wear whatever they want.  If they ask you for guidance, the best thing to do is just inform them of your colors and the formality and let them take care of it.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
