flowers - do I have to...???

Do I have to have corsages/boutenierres for parents/step-parents/grandparents and people doing readings??  Will it be noticed/missed if I skip them???

Re: flowers - do I have to...???

  • i'm not doing flowers for parents/grandparents/etc.  only the wedding party.
  • You don't have to do anything you don't want to! We did flowers for our moms, but that was it. No one said anything or probably even thought about it. When you meet with your florist/designer they will try to talk as though everyone does these things, but remember, they are just trying to get you to spend as much money as possible!
  • Our florist tried to talk us into getting flowers for every single person imaginable, outside the normal group.  God parents, special family friends, grandparents, readers, etc.. really nice lady, but most of them I never even considered.

If you don't want to, you don't have to.  Bottom line.
  • Have you asked any of these people if they mind not getting flowers?  I mentioned to my mom that I was considering skipping corsages, but she got all butt-hurt, so I'm doing them.  It's one of those things that people put a lot of weird stock in, so it might be worth the money to avoid the drama.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I would get them to be safe. Your grandparents, and probably parents might expect them, seeing how it has been a long-standing tradition. Your grandparents don't get much recognition at all and it is a nice way of giving them that. Plus they arent very expensive. If your florist wants to charge you an arm and a leg, go to your grocery store florist. They usually are overlooked but can produce just as beautiful of a product as a regular florist.
