Tux color with Tangerine BM dresses?

Hey Girls!  We just ordered BM dresses today in tangerine from David's Bridal.  They are bright orange, knee length, strapless.  Then my MOH pointed out that if we do black tuxes (with regular ties, not bow ties) that it could look like Halloween.  Has anyone used orange BM dresses and what color suits did the guys wear?  Any suggestions for suit colors since my FI has blonde hair?
TIA!!

  • My cousin wore a brown suit in his friend's wedding and it looked great.  And I bet that your blond FI would look great in brown.

  • I wouldn't have thought it would look Halloween, personally, but I just asked my husband and he said he would think of that. Myi bday is on Halloween so personally I'm a fan, lol.

Do suits come in tan/khaki? Personally, I think that would great. Even brown and orange would make me think of Halloween/fall. But tan and orange would look great.

However, if your fiance is really light skinned with blonde hair, maybe he would look better in brown. When you go to the tux/suit place, you will be able to see the colors on him. I would make the decision in person. But I think you're right about the orange/black.

  • Try grey or tan. That would give a lighter look for a spring/summer wedding.

  • Black tuxes are classic and timeless and pretty much all guys look great in them. Plus, it's not like the wedding party will be standing next to each other for every single minute. You can lighten things up a bit by having the guys wear champagne vests and ties, or silver. Or do black vests with another color tie - tangerine, tangerine and black stripes, white, or any other wedding color you have.

I am not a fan of brown tuxes at all. Some people like that look. Your call. But IMO the tangerine would look MORE orange next to a brown tux than a black one.

Grey or tan suits are also an option. But these are usually better suited for daytime weddings, and/or casual weddings. If you're doing something more formal, then black tuxes (or suits) would probably be best.

What does your FI think? He should be the one making this decision, not you. Or did he ask you to choose?

I don't think it'll look like Halloween. I saw a bio here once where the colors were black and orange even though it wasn't a Halloween wedding, and everything looked fine.

  • I think black is such a classic tux color that no one will think it looks like halloween. But maybe go to the tux shop and check it out.

I'd do black, or charcoal suits, personally. I wouldn't do another tux color other than black, but suits, or even sports coats with khakis, are fine in brown or charcoal, IMO.

  • PIB, our GM wore a tangerine vest and tie with a black tux.  It looked awesome, loved it.
  • my girls are wearing shades of yellow/orange (it's really whatever they find and love) and my fiance and his groomsmen are wearing grey suits. they're going to wear ties in an orange hue as well. we think it looks really nice for a summer wedding. good luck! :)

  • kmacamac:  looks like our weddings are going to be twins!  Is June 5th your date, too?  Have you picked out shoes for your girls?  I can't decide on having shoes dyed or doing something like silver.
