Ways to reinforce my dress's zipper?

My seamstress finally got my dress to fit like a glove. It's snug in all the right places, hits my curves and I have zero worries about it falling down. It looks great.

But it's not easy to zip up, and after leaving the shop today I started to get paranoid that the zipper might not hold up, especially through turns during the first dance, silly photos or any things else.

I really don't want her to let it out because then I think I'd lose the shape. I'm wondering if there are any ways to reinforce a zipper that I might be able to talk to her about? Little hooks or something?

Please share any ideas if you have them!

Re: Ways to reinforce my dress's zipper?

  • Then you can find the tailor to ask, to tailor to change your dress, so is the best solution.

  •   Unless it's a cheap dress with a cheap zipper, you should be fine. It fits like a wedding dress is supposed to fit, and while zippers are not infallible, it's not something you should waste your energy worrying about. Be sure to have safety pins and a needle and thread in your emergency kit.
I'm sure you can have a few hooks and eyes added if you are just that nervous, but don't go overboard or you'll have a terrible time getting into the dress-- if it fits that snugly, they'll be difficult to hook.
